The Role This is a permanent, full-time Senior Stationhand position working across two expansive grazing properties near Bauhinia in Central Queensland. The role is primarily focused on mechanical duties, requiring you to undertake general servicing, essential repairs, and maintenance on all farm machinery and vehicles, with a highly valued bonus if you possess the skills to diagnose and rebuild components. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in the company's planned expansion, which involves purchasing and restoring machinery such as graders and dozers. Complementing the mechanical work, you will also be responsible for essential station upkeep, including maintaining established fences, building new ones, and various steel fabrication projects like welding, yard building, constructing sheds, and cementing. This station upkeep will also include the erection of a new 70m sand arena, with all materials currently on site. Whilst your primary focus will be mechanical and infrastructure, you will also assist with weed control in the forms of tordoning, and spraying as well as having an active and continual involvement in cattle operations, including mustering and cattle processing. You will be expected to participate in the mustering multiple times per year, and while prior experience is beneficial, the team can provide training. Mustering is typically done on a provided 2-wheel motorbike, a quad bike (provided), or your own horse if preferred. The Employer Spottswood Grazing Company is a proud family-owned and operated business nestled in Central Queensland. They manage two separate but nearby grazing properties and are currently investing in expanding their machinery fleet, making this an exciting time to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team committed to their operations. While this new housing will be move-in ready in approximately twelve weeks, comfortable alternative accommodation is provided for an immediate start. For those interested in horses, the property caters to training needs with additional round yards, as the 70m sand arena construction is part of the role's building projects. The position commences with a three-month trial period to ensure a mutual fit.
